ANGELS A TO Z

I do a lot of crossing of mythologies to make my time guardians series work. One mythology I'm always learning more about is Christian mythology. For the record, the whole class of students in Medieval Literature and Reformation & Renaissance English Lit sat there dumb-faced with me whenever the professor asked us what a certain character in Christian mythology did/said/etc. We were all at a loss, including those students who would grumble that they had gone to Sunday service every Sunday of their lives and should know the answer! I don't remember learning the kind of information the professor wanted in Sunday school. So, this book is an incredible asset to those of us who need to know more for whatever reasons. On top of that, it's an encyclopedia. I'm a fool for encyclopedias. You can start on page one and keep reading... When needing to learn anything and everything about a topic, that approach has saved my arse on many occasions.

Lewis and Oliver do an incredible job with ANGELS A TO Z. I can find the connections between mythologies like Islamic or Norse in a snap. Just locate the "angel" or character associated with an angel myth and they tell you where else to look. Although, I found in the literature classes mentioned above that "academia" doesn't always side with everything you find in resources on the market. Apparently, some sources are stretching the evidence to make connections. I can respect the academic scientific approach. But know you should use multiple sources to learn what is acceptable or theorized truth.  This is a big issue in archaeology. Alas, I'm writing fiction. Talk about a poetic license coming in handy! ~Skhye
